How We Get Paid

Max Utility Services Ltd is very simply compensated by all business energy suppliers on our panel for introducing our customers to their electricity and/or gas and related services.

We receive the commission directly from the supplier, you as a customer will never be asked to pay us directly.

The commission we receive pays for our services, including providing competitive rates, price comparisons, switch management, processing, sales support, customer service and account management. The commission earned by Max Utility Services Ltd offsets the cost of providing these services in line with delivering good customer outcomes and maintaining our market position to continue to provide customers with competitive offers for their business.

By agreeing to use our service, you agree that Max Utility Services Ltd will receive a commission from suppliers for this service as set out below.

The commission is included in your tariffs for the cost of energy consumption in the form of a small increase (i.e. within the cost of the energy contract that you agree with the selected supplier).

This increase is determined by Max Utility Services Ltd. It can vary between contracts, our commission is generally just a few percent of the total energy contract price and usually below the unit rate of 1p.

As our commissions are based on estimated future usage, these are estimated amounts. For example, if a supplier has provided a base price of 12p/kWh for electricity or gas, we may add a top-up of 0.5p/kWh as our commission.

Statements received from the supplier would simply be 12.5p/kWh for electricity or gas, which would be paid directly to the supplier. The supplier pays us a commission of 0.5 p/kWh. The terms of payment and the period for which the commission is actually paid differ for each supplier, therefore even these commissions may be subject to changes by the suppliers.

Some contractors installing new meters may choose to pay a fixed contract fee instead.
